2353 MINNESOTA 2354 MINNESOTA system is the University of Minnesota, atMinneapolis, which has organic connectionwith all of the high schools and through asystem of examinations provides for the ad-mission of graduates of these schools to theuniversity. There is also an organic connec-tion between the high schools and the gradedschools and the ungraded schools of ruralconununities. The state superintendent ofpublic instruction is at the head of the edu-cational system; the schools of each countyare under the super\4sion of a county super-intendent. The school fund derived fromthe sale of school lands is very large, andis constantly growing. In addition to theaid received from this fund, each highschool maintaining a course of study whichprepares for admission to the university re-ceives from the state an annual appropria-tion of $1,000.
