Original 1971 versus Expanded 2011 Historic District Boundaries and Acreage.

The original 1971 historic district boundary contained approximately 51 acres and, in 2011, contained 201 features, including the street grid, but not the new sanctuary for the First Baptist Church. (The new sanctuary was constructed on the original district boundary in the 1980s, so it is now partly within the original district and partly without.) The 2011 expanded historic district contains approximately 156 acres and 594 features, which represents an increase in area of over 300% and an increase in features of almost 300%. In general, the new district expanded the original one by 300%.
