Original Black River Bridge SC (8496266194)

One of four consecutive 360-to 420-foot long structurally deficient bridges (six or seven spans) built in 1955 with 10 inches of reinforced concrete deck and a substructure consisting predominantly of steel piles on concrete pier caps supported by steel piers. It was part of an FHWA, Highways for LIFE supported South Carolina DOT project to replace the bridges using innovative technologies and contracting and staged construction.
